Adults
Who We Help
As adults, we often harbor emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that hold us back. This often leads to a wide range of issues, including stress, relationship problems, grief, and mental health conditions. Our therapists at Prime Therapy will work with you to help you identify what’s holding you back.

We offer a judgment-free space to work through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, stress, and major life transitions, delivered by clinicians experienced in adult mental health across every life stage.
We offer individual therapy at our calming NJ office. We also offer Group Therapy where our groups are carefully curated to match your specific goals.
And we offer Telehealth throughout New Jersey. That's the short version. Here's what this looks like in practice, and who it's for.
Prime Therapy: Leading in NJ
It's more than "venting to a professional." Therapy for adults means identifying the specific patterns — in thought, behavior, or relationships — that are keeping you stuck. We'll build a real strategy for lasting change, not just short-term relief.
It means treating you as the expert on your own life while bringing clinical tools to help you understand what's actually driving the stress, conflict, or dissatisfaction you're feeling. At Prime Therapy Services, that means therapy is collaborative — you're not handed a generic plan, you help build one that fits your actual life.
What does "adult therapy" mean at Prime?
Who is Adult Therapy really for?
We work with adults across every stage — early career, new parents, midlife transitions, empty nesters, retirees — dealing with everything from diagnosed anxiety or depression to the harder-to-name feeling of just being stuck. Some clients come in with a clear goal in mind.
Others aren't sure what's wrong, just that something needs to change. Both are valid starting points. Common reasons adults come to Prime Therapy Services include relationship strain.
Strain with a partner, family member, or at work — grief and loss, career dissatisfaction or burnout, chronic stress, and the mental health conditions that often accompany these: anxiety, depression, and difficulty regulating emotion under pressure.
Your Prime Therapy Services clinician draws on evidence-based approaches tailored to what you're working through — CBT for anxiety, depression, and unhelpful thought patterns, DBT for emotional regulation under stress, and attachment-based work for relationship and family dynamics. We also offer EMDR for clients working through past experiences that continue to affect them today.
Prime Therapy Leads Adult Therapy in NJ
This might mean identifying the thought patterns fueling chronic anxiety, building distress tolerance skills for a high-stress job or family situation, or working through grief that hasn't had space to be processed. For clients carrying the weight of past experiences, EMDR can help address the root of a reaction rather than just managing the symptom in the moment.
What brings adults to therapy
You shouldn't have to spend months just building rapport before getting to the actual work. At Prime Therapy Services, sessions are structured to move efficiently from understanding what's going on to building the skills and strategies to change it.
How we actually approach this work
Adult therapy is available in-person at our private, calming NJ office as individual therapy We also offer adult Group Therapy where you'll join your peers in a safe environment. Telehealth is available throughout New Jersey — which many working adults choose for the flexibility around demanding schedules. We also offer group therapy for clients who find value in shared experience alongside individual work.
What sessions actually feel like
The first session focuses on understanding your history, what's brought you to therapy now, and what kind of support would actually be useful — without assumptions about what your life "should" look like at this stage.
Where sessions happen
You deserve a therapist who treats you like a capable adult, not a problem to be managedA lot of adult clients have had at least one experience with a therapist who felt more clinical than collaborative. At Prime Therapy Services, the goal is a space where you're an active partner in your own progress from session one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a specific diagnosis to start therapy?
No. Many adults come to Prime Therapy Services simply feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied — without a clinical diagnosis — and that's a completely valid reason to start.
How long does adult therapy typically take?
This varies significantly by person and goal. Some clients come for a specific issue over a few months; others find ongoing value in longer-term work. We'll discuss what makes sense for you as we go.
Is group therapy a substitute for individual therapy, or an addition to it?
Either. Some clients do only group, some do only individual, and some combine both — you don't need to be an individual client to join a group.
Is Telehealth available for adults with demanding work schedules?
Yes. Prime Therapy Services offers Telehealth throughout New Jersey, which many adult clients use to fit sessions around full-time work and family obligations.
What if I'm not sure what's actually wrong, just that something feels off?
That's one of the most common starting points we see. You don't need a clear diagnosis or a tidy explanation — just a willingness to start exploring it.
