Individual Psychotherapy Sessions are available via Telehealth or in person at our office in Bedminster, NJ. Meeting with a clinician one-on-one allows an individual the space to work through personal issues. Our team works with you to decrease symptoms of anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Our goal is to help increase the understanding of one's thoughts and behavior patterns for better functioning and well-being. We guide you to effectively manage stress, interpersonal difficulties, and troubling situations.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Our outpatient DBT approach presents ways of looking at oneself, one's mental health, one's struggles, and one's personal and family dynamics, helping to understand and normalize what they are going through. Prime uses a step-by-step teaching approach starting with distress tolerance, understanding emotion regulation, enhancing one's mindfulness, and addressing relationship effectiveness. Our clinicians work with the idea of really understanding and relating to your circumstances as well as challenging these maladaptive patterns. It's really about learning life skills. Your mental health will improve with access to these skills. The benefits of allowing experiences rather than suppressing and avoiding them aid in accomplishing your goals and feeling better. Mindfulness has to do with the quality of awareness that a person brings into everyday living. Our DBT approach helps you learn to control your mind rather than letting it control you and to accept yourself while at the same time knowing and wanting to change.

We offer our DBT approach in individual sessions and adolescent, young adult, adult, and parent group therapy.

Eye Movement Desensitization
and Reprocessing

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms of emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences. This method involves moving your eyes a specific way while you process memories to relieve PTSD, depression, anxiety, and other mental health symptoms. EMDR focuses on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors that result from a distressing experience. This allows your brain to resume a natural healing process. EMDR is an individual therapy that meets in person at our office in Bedminster.

LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

Affirmative therapy is a type of psychotherapy used to validate and advocate for the needs of sexual and gender minority clients. Therapists use verbal and nonverbal means to demonstrate an affirming stance toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ+) clients. Affirmative therapy has been shown to be effective with evidence-based approaches and shown to improve the mental health of LGBTQ+ women, men, and transgender, gender diverse, and nonbinary youth. Affirmative counseling is designed to help LGBTQ+ clients feel comfortable and affirmed by their therapist. Our clinician, Tabitha Dickson, LPC, specializes in this approach and facilitates group therapy specifically for the LGBTQ+ community.
